A Look Into The Life Of Dartmouth Professor Peter Lanfer

Although “Grey’s Anatomy” fame has pushed Sarah Drew through all kinds of spotlights, showcasing her prowess as an actress, her husband chose a completely different path away from the limelight. So, today we are going to explore the incredible journey of a college lecturer, Peter Lanfer, and his popular wife, Sarah Drew.

Who is Peter Lanfer?

Born on September 29, 1976, Lanfer grew up in the United States.

His bachelor’s degree in religion from Dartmouth University was awarded to him in 1998.

He continued to Yale University to finish his graduate work in 2002–2004, earning a Master of Arts in Religion with a focus on Judaic studies.

Peter Lanfer works as a college instructor, scholar, and professor. He started his doctoral studies at UCLA in 2004 and graduated in 2010 with a PhD in Near Eastern Languages and Cultures.

Lanfer accepted a position as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Occidental College in 2017, following his tenure as a Lecturer at UCLA.

Since September 2010, he has been working as a lecturer at Dartmouth College.

As per Dartmouth’s website, in his research, Prof. Lanfer looks at the cultural significance of sacred texts in the vibrant expressions of Christian and Jewish communities across the Hellenic and Roman empires.

His upcoming book, Reading Sacredness in the Badly Behaving Bible, will examine the theological issues raised by morally dubious passages in the Hebrew Bible.

The Hebrew Bible, the New Testament, the Dead Sea Scrolls, Jewish and Christian Pseudepigrapha, Rabbinic literature, Jewish magic and mysticism, apocalyptic and messianic movements in antiquity, as well as the archaeology and history of Jerusalem and Israel, are just a few of the topics Prof. Lanfer teaches courses on.

The Meet-Cute And Marriage

Sarah Drew met her husband during a camp counselor gig. The couple kept in touch even after their job ended and began dating in their early 20s.

The actress lovingly recalled how Lanfer courted her with handwritten letters for eight months before they saw each other again during an interview.

Although Drew and Lanfer married in 2002, they didn’t have their first child together until 2012—a son whom they named Micah Emmanuel. Their second child, Hannah Mali Rose, was born two years later.

A Loving Family

With the COVID-19 pandemic looming in 2020, Drew turned to Lanfer for assistance. He took over and made the family’s grocery run when she was having anxiety attacks. Playing music together was another way that Drew and Lanfer sought comfort from each other.

The actor recently shared in an interview about the thoughtful present she got for her 40th birthday from her husband. Lanfer put together a scrapbook of memories complete with old photos and letters Drew had kept from her youth, along with a collection of greeting videos.

Drew frequently updates her Instagram and other social media accounts with pictures of the couple’s two kids.

A day after her son’s twelfth birthday, on January 19, 2024, she shared a touching video collage of her son Micah growing up with friends and family.

Although Lanfer would rather avoid the spotlight, he frequently appears alongside his wife, Sarah Drew, at red-carpet events, such as premiere parties for her popular television series and made-for-TV films.

On September 30, 2023, Drew even shared a touching birthday tribute to Lanfer on Instagram.
