Venessa Nadal’s Magical Love Affair With Lin Manuel

It’s no secret how Lin-Manuel Miranda’s influence in Disney and the film industry has carved out a one-of-a-kind experience for audiences making his mark in the business indelible. But very little is known of his wife Vanessa Nadal.

So, today let’s take a trip down memory lane to know more about this Pulitzer Prize winner’s charming partner!

Who Is Vanessa Nadal?

Nadal is a Fordham University School of Law and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) graduate. She practiced law at Jones Day from 2010 till 2016.

As global marketing counsel at The Estée Lauder Companies, Vanessa A. Nadal is known for her knowledge in science which she uses to evaluate complex performance and offer legal evaluation of advertising claims for skincare, cosmetics, and cosmetic products made in all media worldwide.

In addition, she co-founded and co-teaches the first law school course on U.S. Cosmetics Regulation, which addresses social, political, and business rules about the production and distribution of cosmetics.

She is knowledgeable on a wide range of topics, including contract law, intellectual property, FDA, FTC, and CRA law, as well as the False Claims Act.

The Start Of The Story

Miranda and Nadal both went to Hunter College High School but did not date as teenagers. This can mainly be attributed to Mr. Miranda’s inability to talk to Vanessa Adriana Nadal, a Latino sophomore he deeply admired, as per media reports following the couple’s marriage in 2010. “She was gorgeous and I’m famously bad at talking to women I find attractive,” the composer revealed to the publication.

But as fate would have it in 2005, Miranda came upon Nadal’s Facebook profile and thought of taking a shot at least once. He asked her to a show by the “popular hip-hop improv troupe, Freestyle Love Supreme, using words audience members threw at them like tennis balls,” according to a news outlet. She showed up, but based on what Nadal told the outlet, “It was a huge group so he didn’t talk to me the whole night,” she didn’t think Miranda was interested in her.

But Miranda was persistent and asked one of his friends to get Nadal’s phone number because he was too hesitant to do so himself. Then a few weeks later, he invited her to another event. Finally, at this event, Nadal realized she had started developing feelings for the creative genius from her school.

After his performance, Miranda and Nadal stood outside, and Nadal compared the traffic to the video game Grand Theft Auto, which she enjoyed. That was all the opening Miranda needed. He immediately invited Nadal to his home to play Grand Theft Auto and bond over Jay-Z’s movie.

This one-night invitation quickly transpired into them exchanging their apartment keys.

The Big Day

While in Madrid, the pair got engaged after dating for roughly four years. The couple shared a picture of the night Lin-Manuel proposed in 2017, with Vanessa covering his face with her hand (complete with engagement ring). His caption read, “The missus & I got engaged in Madrid the day before Halloween 2009, I took this on Photobooth while she called her parents.”

Lin-Manuel and Vanessa tied the knot at the Belvedere Mansion in Staatsburg, New York, following a year-long engagement. A 22-piece orchestra performed throughout the reception, a chorus of Broadway singers sang during the ceremony, and Vanessa looked stunning in a strapless ballgown by Oscar de la Renta. With a musical rendition of “To Life” from Fiddler on the Roof, which he dedicated to Vanessa, Lin-Manuel gave his wife the perfect surprise on their big day.

Birth Of A Beautiful Family

Nadal and Miranda have two kids, Sebastian and Francisco. Nadal revealed her second pregnancy in 2017 when walking the red carpet at the London Evening Standard Theatre Awards, following the birth of Sebastian in 2014.

Miranda acknowledged the couple’s pregnancy when a fan inquired about his wife’s noticeable baby bump. His reply? “Oh hell yeah,” confirmed a very proud and expecting father.

On August 28, 2023, Nadal and Miranda made a rare public appearance by going to the US Open’s opening day of play in New York City. While the actor wore a casual blue button-up shirt and maroon slacks, the lawyer shone in a plunging white dress.
